How to find your way through the town of Bayreuth.

The following map shows the town centre of Bayreuth (140 kB).

The railway station of Bayreuth (Bayreuth Hauptbahnhof)

Since there is only one station, you can't miss it. You may want to check out your train connections with the Railway-Server of the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB).

In front of the station, you will find a bus stop [Bushaltestelle], taxi [Taxi] stand and public telephone [Telefonzelle].

Central Bus Station (ZOH) 

All buses pass the Central Bus Station ZOH which is located in the town centre. Here you will find buses going to the campus of the university (see below).  

Getting around using public transportation or going by foot. 

The bus schedule of Bayreuth is available online. Warning: The bus schedule and the labeling of the bus lines are different in the evening and at the weekend. 

You can buy your bus ticket from the bus driver. Alternatively, cheaper multiple tickets are available from the ticket machine at the Central Bus Station ZOH. You may ask for help at the bus information there.

A summary of the bus connections is: 

From the Railway Station to the University

Buses No. 302, 303, 305 and 309 leave in front of the Railway Station for the Central Bus Station ZOH, where you have to change (see below). Beware not to take a bus going into the wrong direction. Walking distance from the Railway Station to the University is about 35 minutes.

From the Central Bus Station ZOH to the University

Take bus line No.304 (direction: Universität) or No.306 (direction Campus/Hohlmühle).

Walking distance is about 25 min.

From the University to the Central Bus Station ZOH

At the bus stop near the Mensa, take bus No.304 (direction: ZOH) or No.306 (direction: ZOH). 

Walking distance is about 25 min.

From the Central Bus Station ZOH to the Railway Station

Buses No. 301, 308, 321 or 322 operate this connection.

Walking distance is about 10 min.
